Priorities and all...

Imagine you and your family live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (well, technically not the 'middle'). When you got there 4 years ago, you knew that it would be for just a limited time...like everywhere else you've lived. Along the way you meet people that had landed on that same island many years ago...also intending to stay for a short amount of time...but that was 20 years ago and yet here they are.

Although you know your time is limited, you pretend you could live on this tropical island forever. You've made such good friends (although some of them move away-because that's the nature of things on your island), you've let a stray beach dog adopt you, you've purchased a sailboat capable of sailing around the world (you and your soul mate/spouse/captain planned this very thing 20 years ago). You feel as if life has been leading you to this point, and you are content.

Then one day you are told that you must leave this island in the next 6 months and uproot everything you have grown comfortable with. You will be moving to a large, noisy city (although technically it's still on an island). What do you do?

Well, you freak out for a little bit, and then you start planning a 1400 mile sailboat trip. That's what I would do.  Priorities and all...

Stay tuned for the tales of our adventure across the Philippine Sea from Guam to Carmen, on the island of Cebu Philippines.  I'll even have a guest blogger!
